We Are One DayIntroducing…We Are One day Do you ever get the feeling that you're not alone in wanting to see a better world? Do you ever wish to join with others who share this view? Well, this is what We Are One day is all about. It is not simply a day for activists, for politicians or for children. It is for everyone. Everyone who agrees that while each Lifeform on our earth is beautifully different, we are all one in the expression of Life. The results of the understanding that We Are One include equal opportunity, environmental sustainability and peace. The vision of We Are One day is of a new event of celebration/action to be formed that highlights the interests of our world's future adults. The difference between this day and many others is that has been imagined, organised and created BY young people, FOR young people. However, we wish to sweep up everybody in this new realization and unified voice. After the success of We Are One day in 2003 and 2004 (See Previous Success), the third annual event will be held again on October 22, 2005. It is to be celebrated within schools and any other group that agrees with the theme. It is a worldwide event that is for everyone; including every physical difference and way of thinking on our earth. As the theme of the day is broad, it can easily be transferred to cultures all over the world, which can all resonate in some way with its message. As the day is also non-sectarian (unity in diversity), the celebration or action of the day is not something set the same for everywhere. In fact, the implication of the theme 'We Are One' will have a different meaning to different people. This is to be encouraged, so that the maximum benefit of the day can be felt. Therefore, wherever this day is celebrated, an invitation is offered to create a unique and meaningful way of expression. This may result in a fundraising day, an environmental action day, an awareness campaign, a service or ceremony, etc. In short, We Are One day is a global day of celebration/action and is intended to be a statement to the world that We Are One. In a sentence, the theme of the day is about recognising our basic unity underlying our individual uniqueness. The results of this understanding extend to areas such as equal opportunity, environmental sustainability and peace. The message from
this event, then, will be heard by those in leadership positions, those
in poverty and those in apathy.
